The welfare of all pupils in Dowlais Primary School is a priority.  We believe that our school should provide a supportive, caring and safe environment that promotes the social, physical and moral development of each child by the provision of the school curriculum.  No child can learn effectively and reach their potential unless they feel safe and secure.

Our school aims to create a warm, friendly, caring and secure atmosphere for all.  The day-to-day care and well-being of our pupils rests with the class teacher.  If there is a concern, the Headteacher is informed and parents will be contacted.  The Headteacher is the Designated Child Protection Officer.

The Local Authority lays down clear procedures that all schools have to act upon in cases of non-accidental injury or suspected child abuse.   Any concerns regarding child protection will be dealt with in accordance with the All Wales Child Protection Procedures.
